What’s New in March: Dairy Ice Cream Innovations

This month, we have some incredibly fun new dairy ice cream products to look for in the freezer aisle! One of them, which we’ve chosen as our March Pick of the Month, is a kids’ ice lolly that contains 30 percent less sugar than its leading competitors. This brightly-hued ice cream treat from Jude’s tastes like the tropics – and looks like it, too, with its real apple, mango and strawberry juices contents. Besides this fun new product, we’ve got plenty of others to review from around the globe. Let’s get started!

New Kids’ Ice Lolly from Jude’s, England

Jude’s proves that kids’ ice cream can taste great – without having a high sugar content! The brand’s fun new frozen fruit twists combine delicious mango and coconut ice cream and strawberry swirled around a zesty apple core. Boasting a truly tropical flavor, the tasty little treats contain natural apple, mango, and strawberry juices and less than 30 percent sugar than comparable products on the market! Find them at Sainsbury’s in 5x50ml packs for £3.50 ($4.35 USD).

Pierre’s Ice Cream Co. Adds Lactose-Free Flavors, United States

Cookies & Cream and Mint Chocolate Chip are the newest lactose-free frozen dessert flavors added to Pierre’s Ice Cream line-up!

Advertised on Pierre’s website as being the “creamiest, smoothest, most irresistible premium ice cream you love, but lactose-free!” the two new flavors are both certified Kosher OUD.

Cookies & Cream promises to deliver chocolate sandwich cookies and classic vanilla ice cream. The Mint Chocolate Chip is also gluten-free, containing mint ice cream and melt-in-your-mouth chocolaty chips. Both are available in 1.5-quart pints.

N!CK’s Launches Novelty Ice Cream Bars, United States


Swedish-style, better-for-you dessert brand N!CK’s has launched a line of novelty ice cream bars! The low-calorie treats – which come as a natural extension to the brand’s pint lineup – are low in net carbs and contain no added sugars. Seven flavors are available, which include Mint Choklad, Salta Karamell Swirl, Peanot Choklad Krunch, and Strawar Swirl.


Find the novelty bars (priced at $5.49 USD for a 4x2.8oz pack) at nationwide retailers like Wegmans, Fresh Direct, Stop & Shop and others, with more locations coming soon.



A Come-Back of Flavors from Salt & Straw, United States

As of March 31, the Portland-based national ice cream chain Salt & Straw has brought back a few of their classic flavors – which are anything but classic! To celebrate the brand’s 12-year anniversary, the most iconic flavors from 1,200 recipes will be available again. They include:

  • Honey Marshmallow Rocky Road: Fresh honey, gobs of pillowy marshmallow, and chocolate ice cream get spiced with cinnamon and ancho chili and studded with candied hazelnuts.

  • Black Olive Brittle & Goat Cheese: Rich and complex, containing pieces of sweet-but-salty butter brittle made from cured black olives and mixed into an ultra-creamy goat cheese ice cream.

  • Sweet Corn & Waffle Cones: Fresh roasted golden corn tossed into corn-flavored ice cream and wrapped in ribbons of brown butter caramel. Enjoy an added sweet crunch from bite-sized bits of chocolate-covered waffle cone.

  • Strawberry Cilantro Lime Cheesecake: Boasting sweetness and tanginess, this dreamy flavor contains a toasty graham cracker crust, delicate strawberry ice cream, and a ribbon of cilantro lime cheesecake.

  • Mango Habanero IPA Sorbet (vegan): This juicy, hop-heavy flavor has IPA that’s spun until frozen, is spiced with fresh habanero, and is cooled off with mangoes and citrus.

Enjoy the reintroduction of these flavors at Salt & Straw scoop shops for pints, scoops and milkshakes. Pints can be ordered online and shipped nationwide through the company’s “Pints of the Month” club or a “Pick Your Pints” bundle. A seven-pack of pints in the “Pick Your Pints” bundle costs $85 USD.


Cadbury Debuts Mouthwatering New Caramilk Ice Cream, Australia


Australia-based Cadbury fans can rejoice: They can soon enjoy a brand-new ice cream counterpart to their favorite Caramilk chocolate!


The ice cream tubs will contain a creamy vanilla base with Caramilk chunks and a golden caramel chocolate center, just like the popular chocolate bar. Well received by fans in the United Kingdom already, Aussies will be able to find the ice cream on shelves at Coles and Woolies supermarkets by the end of April.



Reborn Coffee Enters the Frozen Aisle, United States

Specialty coffee retailer Reborn Coffee, Inc. is now offering a coffee-inspired line of ice cream! The super-premium ice cream contains clean ingredients, natural flavors, and an infusion of the brand’s cold-brew coffee concentrate. The ice cream’s smooth, creamy taste is made using a slow-churning technique that combines 14 percent butterfat contents. Four flavors are available: cold brew, alcohol-infused mocha rum, bourbon vanilla, and non-dairy coconut cream.

It’s currently available in its existing coffee shop and kiosk locations, with plans to scale into southern California supermarkets.



My/Mochi Adds Ube to the 2023 Ice Cream Line-up, United States

My/Mochi – the largest producer and category leader of mochi ice cream – is gearing up for an exciting ice cream season with their line-up of new products, including:

  • Cereal + Milk Mochi Ice Cream: Graham cereal flavor premium ice cream wrapped in delicious mochi dough

  • Mochi in the Morning: Sure to soon become the go-to, on-the-go morning staple, this line of Smoothies wraps premium fruit puree in soft rice mochi dough and provides antioxidants and vitamins B and C. Available in Strawberry Banana and Mixed Berry flavors.

  • Flavor Explosion: Four new flavors join the My/Mochi premium ice cream portfolio: Ube, Strawberry with Boba, Coffee and Passion Fruit.

The best part? You can enjoy any My/Mochi product guilt-free since they contain fewer than 100 calories and are free from gluten, soy and nuts! The expansive line is also rBST-free and doesn’t contain GMO or artificial ingredients. The average retail price is $6.29 for 6-count packs.


Oppo Brothers Continue to Disrupt With 4 New Ice Cream Experiences, England

Oppo Brothers’ ice cream that’s "better for taste, health, and the planet" continues to create ripples in the ice cream industry! The brand promises maximum indulgence in 2023 with the release of four new ice cream products:

  • Oppo Brothers Caramelized Biscuit Swirl Ice Cream (475ml; RRP £5.00, $5.48 USD): A creamy caramel ice cream rippled with a sweet, speculoos swirl and blended with generous amounts of caramelized biscuit pieces. Enlightened Launches New Caramel Brownie Greek Yogurt Bars, United States

Enlightened is ready for the upcoming summer season with the debut of two new flavorful yogurt bars! Both 4x3.5oz packs of bars contain Greek yogurt and monk fruit sweetener and are available at retailers nationwide.

  • Caramel Brownie Greek Yogurt Bars: Caramel flavored Greek yogurt with fudge brownie pieces and chocolatey chips

  • Mint & Cookies Greek Yogurt Bars: Mint-flavored, frozen Greek yogurt with chocolate cookie pieces


H-E-B Introduces Houston Astros Ice Cream Flavor, United States

Peanut butter ice cream, peanut brittle pieces, and a caramel swirl join forces to honor the 2022 World Series champions! The fun new flavor by Creamy Creations is named Houston Astros Peanut Brittle ice cream and is exclusive to the Houston area.


You can enjoy the sweet treat even more, knowing that five percent of each ice cream purchase will be donated to the Astros Foundation. It’s available in half-gallon and pint sizes while supplies last.
