April brought a burst of creativity to the non-dairy frozen dessert world with bold new flavors, inventive ingredients, and boundary-pushing brand partnerships.
From the remote islands of Papua New Guinea to the supermarket shelves of Europe and the U.S., plant-based innovation is thriving—and it’s doing so with a conscience. Whether it’s reducing food waste, upgrading legacy recipes, or introducing new cultural twists, brands are proving that frozen treats can be as responsible as they are delicious.
This month’s standouts include the launch of a Pistachio Popsicle from NOMOO that claimed our Pick of the Month. Learn more about this new frozen dessert company, plus countless other exciting releases from brands around the world, by continuing below.

New Company, Bougainville Ice Cream (BIC), Launches! (Papua New Guinea)
Bougainville Ice Cream (BIC), a Papua New Guinea-produced organic frozen dessert brand, has quickly become a favorite among customers in the Bougainville region. Crafted by the Buka-based company using locally grown ingredients, the treats contain no processed ingredients.

Since there are no cattle farms in Bougainville, the company extracts milk from nuts, sweeteners from fruits, and starch from local garden produce. The new company has developed three flavors:
Chocolate (using Bougainville cocoa beans)
Fruit Salad
Coconut Vanilla
Beyond Bougainville, the company’s products have been well-received in Honiara, Solomon Islands, following a successful trial launch.
New Creamy Pistachio Popsicle from NOMOO! (Germany)

Crafted with roasted and lightly salted pistachios, NOMOO’s creamy Pistachio Popsicle delivers an explosion of bold, nutty flavor. The rich intensity of the nuts, balanced with a delicate touch of salt, sets a new standard in pistachio indulgence!
A 3x65mL pack retails for EUR 3.99 (USD 4.56) and can be found at supermarkets nationwide.
Magnum Re-Invents Its Vegan Frozen Dessert Recipe! (United Kingdom)
Magnum has unveiled its revamped vegan ice cream, featuring a new recipe that promises an

even creamier texture and richer chocolate experience! The updated soy recipe formula replaces the brand’s former pea protein recipe to enhance the velvety taste and texture.
Available in 90mL single sticks and 3x90mL multipacks, the plant-based indulgence is now presented in a new, eye-catching premium pack design.
ALDI Brings Back Popular Dog Ice Cream! (United Kingdom)

It’s not just humans getting a new treat during heat waves: ALDI is also bringing back its hugely popular dog ice cream for the third year in a row!
Each 4-pack of 110mL—available in either Pea & Vanilla or Carrot & Apple flavors—sells for GBP 2.99 (USD 4.02). The sweet treat contains real fruit and vegetables and is 100% plant-based.
Fresh Ripe Banana and Coconut Milk Frozen Dessert from Auchan x O Gelado! (Portugal)
Auchan Portugal has teamed up with local brand O Gelado to launch a new banana-coconut frozen dessert that’s as kind to the planet as it is to your taste buds.

Crafted from 65% ripe bananas—about one and a half bananas per serving—that would have otherwise gone to waste, this creamy treat is part of Auchan’s “Desperdício Zero” (Zero Waste) strategy. The initiative is set to rescue approximately 6,500 bananas in its initial phase, transforming potential waste into a tropical indulgence.
Beyond its eco-friendly credentials, this frozen dessert offers a healthful twist. Ripe bananas are rich in tryptophan, an amino acid known to help combat stress and anxiety, and are packed with natural antioxidants.
New Rainbow Pop from POPCO! (South Africa)

After 25 iterations over four months, POPCO Ice Cream has a new product to try out: The Rainbow Pop! Vibrantly colored using nothing artificial, the sweet treat contains a perfect balance of sugars, fiber, fruit, and water within each of its three layers:
Raspberry and strawberry tartness
A smooth mango and granadilla, and then
Crisp apple, spinach, and pineapple

These eye-catching frozen fruit bars are gluten-free and contain no GMOs, high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, or flavors—plus, they're a good source of Vitamin C.

Sourdough and Olive Oil Chocolate Join Salt & Straw’s Upcycled Food Series! (United States)
Joining four dairy-based flavors in Salt & Straw’s The Upcycled Food Series is a unique frozen dessert: Sourdough & Olive Oil Chocolate.

The vegan-friendly flavor reimagines the classic pain au chocolat: malty chocolate barley milk infused with Arbequina extra-virgin olive oil, studded with candied sourdough bread pieces for a delightful crunch. It’s made in collaboration with Ever Grain Brewing Co. and utilizes upcycled barley milk.
While the ingredients help divert 1,095 pounds of food waste, the packaging is also more sustainable. New containers are 0.25” smaller, saving 40,000 pounds of paper each year.
The limited-time launch was available during April at Salt and Straw locations.
Dairy-Free Mickey Mouse and Star Wars Pops from GoodPop! (United States)
GoodPop has teamed up with Disney and Lucasfilm to introduce its first-ever licensed frozen treats:

Disney Mickey Mouse Fudge n' Vanilla Pops: A frozen vanilla oat milk dessert coated in a chocolate fudge shell. A 6x1.9oz (56.2mL) pack sells for USD 9.99.
