NEW TRENDS


Eclipse Foods (Milk)Shake Things Up at Smashburger, USA


US national burger restaurant chain, Smashburger, has teamed up with plant-based dairy company, Eclipse Foods to shake up their menu by adding a whopping 6 new plant-based milkshakes for customers to enjoy. The ice cream base for the milkshakes blends cassava and corn in a way that mimics traditional dairy.


This move will make them one of the first fast casual restaurants in the US to launch plant-based shakes nationwide, according to Eclipse Foods. Flavours available include Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Oreo, Peanut Butter, and Tangerine Dream.

Pink Albatross Adds Mini Formats to Portfolio, Spain

Spanish plant-based frozen dessert brand, Pink Albatross are in the process of launching their very first 90ml format.


Designed with food service operators looking to add a plant-based dessert option into their menu in mind, their new 90ml tubs will continue to feature all the benefits of their regular sized pints including zero artificial ingredients, and free from any gluten, soy, eggs, and dairy.




Must Love Collabs with Earthy Andy to Launch New Pint, USA


‘Earthy Andy Limited Edition’ is non-dairy brand's ‘Must Love’ newest addition to their plant-based portfolio of frozen desserts. The coconut-oat milk pint features generous helpings of peanut butter brownie packed with even more brownie chunks, peanut butter ribbons, and chocolate chips. Created in collaboration with plant-based influencer and blogger, Andrea Hannemann (known to her online fans as ‘Earthy Andy’). The peanut-butter-packed pint will be available on the brand’s website for a limited time only at a cost of $12 USD (€11.83).

Waitrose Welcomes Jude’s New Summer Flavours, UK

Jude’s in the UK have just launched two new flavours into one of the UK’s top retailers, Waitrose & Partners. Their plant-based Salted Caramel Sticks are the first SKU’s now available in Waitrose’s freezer aisle. The 3x80ml box of Salted Caramel Sticks features a deliciously rich honeycomb and chocolate coating and is available in Waitrose & Partners at an RRP of £4 (€4.75 / $4.82 USD).


The second SKU is a plant-based multipack of four tubs (85ml each) in two flavours: Salted Caramel and Double Chocolate, and is available for £2.95 (€3.51 / $3.55 USD). The launch comes alongside the brand’s commitment to make 50% of their frozen dessert range plant based by 2025.

NEW & SURPRISING FLAVOURS / SHAPES


Happy Pops & French’s Create Controversial Ketchup Pops, Canada


French’s in Canada have teamed up with Happy Pops to launch limited-edition ketchup-flavoured ice pops. Made from 100% Canadian tomatoes and organic cane sugar to create a salty-sweet taste sensation, the controversially-flavoured pops were shared with the public between June 22nd-June 24th at 4 locations across Canada (Vancouver; Toronto; and Leamington, Ontario). The French’s brand also promised to donate two meals to Food Banks Canada for every pop given away.
