What’s New in September: Dairy Ice Cream Innovations

As of September 23, fall is in full swing here in the Northern Hemisphere. And the dairy ice cream brands are ready for it! From pumpkin to apple pie flavors – and beyond – many new flavors and frozen treats are here for us to enjoy.


One such example (that claimed our Pick of the Month) is the line-up of fall treats from My Mochi. A brand well-known for its “miraculous match of mochi dough with marvelously mouthwatering ice cream” has brought back two popular fall treats from last year. My Mochi Rolls Out Fall Line-Up of Limited-Time Treats, United States

They’re baaaaaaack! My Mochi’s well-loved line of novelty frozen desserts is being re-joined by two flavors from its previous fall line-up:

  • Pumpkin Spice: A delicious seasonal flavor of creamy, cinnamon pumpkin spice ice cream, and crunchy graham cracker crumbs wrapped in soft, pillowy dough

  • Apple Pie Á La Mode: Made with vanilla ice cream and a cinnamon spice apple filling

Both are perfectly portioned for guilt-free snacking. They’re easy to enjoy on the go; just thaw for a minute or two and take a bite – no spoon required!

But hurry! Both flavors are available for a limited time only at national retailers, costing an average of $5.99USD for a 35g, six-count box.



Oppo Brothers Release Innovative Oppo Dipped Product! England

Oppo Brothers has done it again with their newest release: Oppo Dipped!


These real frozen fruit pieces are dipped in luxurious milk or white Belgian chocolate to provide an exceptional frozen snacking experience! The bite-sized treats start at just 59 calories per portion, making them the perfect solution to satisfy even the healthiest snackers!


Oppo Dipped comes in three flavors to cater to fruit lovers everywhere:

  • Strawberries & Raspberries in Belgian milk chocolate: 150g, £5.00 ($6.10USD)

  • Banana & Caramel in Belgian milk chocolate: 150g, £5.00 ($6.10USD)

  • Pineapple & Coconut in white chocolate: 150g, £5.00 ($6.10USD)

Simply remove the treat from the freezer ten minutes before consuming. Find them in the UK exclusively at Ocado and Sainsburys.


Limited-Time Mountain Dew Baja Blast Gelato from Taco Bell, United States

Move over Crunchwrap Supreme and Mexican Pizza – there’s a new menu item at Taco Bell!


Mtn Dew Baja Blast Gelato contains the same flavoring (and teal hue) found in the chain’s signature beverage, Mtn Dew Baja Blast. But this time, it’s in a creamy, frozen form!


The new treat was available at one restaurant in Irvine, California, for two weeks only in early September. It was sold in a 3.6-ounce container for $2.99USD. The California debut is meant to test sales and see whether a larger or eventual nationwide rollout is worth it. Wishing them great success!



Salt & Straw Debuts Fall Ice Cream Series, United States

September was a big one for Salt & Straw, which released “The Harvest Festival” ice cream series. Reflecting the "bounty of the autumn produce,” the brand has debuted a line-up that contains both old favorites and a brand-new one.

  • Pumpkin Spiced Tiramisu: Coffee ice cream with maple syrup, classic fall spices, a tiramisu swirl, coffee mascarpone, and coffee stracciatella

  • Beecher's Cheese with Apple Pie Cinnamon Rolls: Pastry crumbled throughout the sweet and creamy Beecher’s Flagship Cheese ice cream to create a nutty, crumbly sensation

  • Caramel Apple Sherbet: An apple juice sherbet with vanilla-infused caramel ribbons and filled with crispness

  • Pinot Poached Pear Sherbet: Made with pickled pears "bathed in a Willamette Valley Pinot Noir" and blended into vanilla ice cream

  • Chocolate Plum & Hazelnut Shortbread: Containing pieces of hazelnut shortbread with dark chocolate chips, coconut cream, and plum marmalade

The new release is sure to get ice cream lovers excited for fall! Find the new flavors online ($75USD for five pints of 473mL each) and at Scoop stores nationwide.



Van Leeuwen Announces 4 Special Edition Ice Cream Flavors! United States

Gourmet ice cream maker Van Leeuwen's 2023 fall release contains classic fall flavors with some unexpected twists!

  • Pumpkin Cheesecake: Redolent of nutmeg and cinnamon, featuring a crumble of graham cracker crust throughout the ice cream

  • Vegan Sweet Potato Marshmallow Pie: Vegan sweet potato ice cream with notes of brown sugar, marshmallows, and swirls of caramel

  • Thandai: Inspired by the traditional Indian drink and made in collaboration with one of New York City's hottest chefs, Chintan Pandya

  • Cranberry Crumble: A combination of cream cheese ice cream, oat crumble, and a deep crimson swirl of cranberry

Little Moons Introduces Limited-Edition Flavor: Sweet and Salty Popcorn, UK

Your movie nights on the couch just got an upgrade!


Little Moons’ newest debut – Sweet and Salty Popcorn – combines the buttery taste of popcorn beautifully blended with demerara sugar and Himalayan rock salt and studded with caramelized corn. Found the limited-edition flavor at all major UK retailers for an RRP of £5.00 ($6.07USD).



Häagen-Dazs’ Mochi Ice Cream Line Returns! Japan

Do you love delicious Japanese flavors done simply but well? If so, the return of Häagen-Dazs’ Hana Mochi series is for you! Two new flavors join the limited-edition Hana Mochi line from Häagen-Dazs:

  • Ginse Kinako Kuromitsu: A fantastic combination of kinako (roasted soybean powder) and kuromitsu (brown sugar syrup) combined with chewy mochi rice cake and bountiful kinako flour

  • Matcha Azuki: A rich flavor of matcha from first-grade tea leaves, topped with a mochi cake and coarse red bean paste

They retail for 351 yen (US$2.38) wherever ice cream is sold.



Marble Slab Creamery Introduces Caramel Churro Crunch, United States

Caramel Churro Crunch Ice Cream joins Marble Slab’s exciting line-up this fall!


The limited-time flavor starts with the brand's signature Sweet Cream Ice Cream and is swirled with caramel sauce and mini crunchy churros.


It’s available to enjoy in a cup, cone, or shake until October 31.



Little Debbie Releases 4 Limited-Edition Ice Cream Flavors, United States

Dessert company Little Debbie – best known for its Honey Buns and Nutty Buddy Wafer Bars – has teamed up with Hudsonville Ice Cream to create four new limited-edition ice cream flavors!

  • Pumpkin Delights: Pumpkin-flavored ice cream with a spiced cookie swirl

  • Turtle Brownies: Brownie batter-flavored ice cream with brownie dough, crushed peanuts, and a caramel swirl

  • Chocolate Chip Cream Pies: Vanilla creme-flavored ice cream with chocolate chip cookie pieces

  • Apple Fruit Pies: A cinnamon-vanilla ice cream swirled with apple pie filling and pie crumbs

The Little Debbie's ice cream flavors began selling in Walmart stores on September 2 and will be available while supplies last. Prices for each 473mL pint range from $2.74 to $3.99USD.



Guitar-Shaped Ice Cream Bar from Metallica! United States

In a partnership with Enlightened Ice Cream, Metallica is releasing a limited-edition guitar-shaped ice cream, with proceeds going to help support local food banks.


The fun-shaped ice cream bar pays homage to Hetfield’s collaboration with ESP Guitars: the dark chocolate shell is shaped to reflect the single-cut Truckster model that was part of Hetfield’ Signature Series line.


The creamy vanilla ice cream bars are covered in rich dark chocolate and a dose of rock and roll! Currently, the release is restricted to the US only.


A box of 4x2.75oz bars costs $6.99USD.
