What’s New in May: Vegan Frozen Dessert Innovations

Just like in the dairy world, summer also promises many new vegan frozen dessert debuts! We’re so excited to see so many fresh, fun flavors and products hit our shelves – with this month’s Pick of the Month going to the limited-edition vegan Skoop frozen dessert! With three new flavors inspired by your favorite Nintendo characters, trying just one won’t be easy!

Limited Edition Vegan Skoop Inspired by Your Favorite Nintendo IP, United States

Mario, Splatoon, and Kirby join forces to help create a limited-edition vegan Skoop frozen dessert! The collaboration between Nintendo of America and Nékter Juice Bar is bringing the following three fun options to over 200 locations countrywide:

  • Mario Kart Cookie Cruiser: A collision of cookie dough, blue spirulina, and Nékter's own coconut cream blend

  • Splatlands Birthday: A burst of color and cake batter flavor from a coconut cream blend with turmeric and topped with natural sprinkles

  • Kirby's Berry Dream: A dreamy combination of strawberry puree and Nékter's coconut cream blend


Two New Sorbetto Flavors from Remeo! England

Enjoy Remeo’s signature Italian sorbet – on a stick this summer! The refreshing flavors and smooth, delicate textures of the newest flavors (Limone Siciliano and Peach & Apricot Sorbetto) are available on Ocado and in Waitrose and Whole Foods Market. Each 3x70g pack is available from £4.50 ($5.59 USD).


Lime-Mint Flavor Returns to NOMOO’s Lineup! Germany

Back by popular demand: lime-mint frozen dessert from NOMOO! The limited-edition flavor is super delicious and refreshing – perfect for the dog days of summer! The frozen dessert’s organic contents (lime topped with fresh mint) contain 30 percent less sugar than conventional lime frozen desserts while being gluten-free, soy-free, and naturally lactose-free.

New Dairy-Free Line from Häagen-Dazs! Canada

Häagen-Dazs’ newest line of vegan frozen desserts embraces oat milk as its base! Enjoy it in three delectable flavors, each with its own decadent sauces and inclusions:

  • Chocolate Peanut Butter: Rich chocolate frozen dessert with creamy peanut butter swirls

  • Vanilla Raspberry Truffle: Vanilla frozen dessert with raspberry ribbons and truffle pieces

  • Caramel Fudge Chip: Caramel frozen dessert with fudge chips and almond-based caramel ripple

The plant-based option from the popular ice cream brand is available at most grocery stores across Canada for $4.99 CDN ($3.74 USD).


New Dog Frozen Dessert from NORTHERN BL°C! England

NORTHERN BL°C understands that our four-legged friends deserve a frozen treat this summer, too! Their new dog Strawberry & Vanilla flavored frozen dessert is packed with fresh fruit and lactose-free, with a portion of each sale donated to the Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity.

New Plant-Based Flavor Released from Granny Gothards! England

Granny Gothards does it again – this time, with a new plant-based flavor, Sea Salted Caramel! Containing outstanding butterscotch notes enhanced with luxurious Maldon salt flakes, the handmade frozen treat offers a caramelized sweetness followed by a sharp, salty taste.


Find it in a 2.5L tub for £5.49 ($6.91 USD) at select Waitrose stores, Ocado, online, and numerous farm shops, delis, and retail outlets up and down the country.


Kula Desserts Debuts 3 Gluten-Free Vegan Ice Cream Sandwiches, United States

Kula Desserts’ new coconut-based frozen dessert sandwich flavors will cool you off this summer! Noticeably large and made with a thick layer of frozen dessert between two uniquely soft-baked gluten-free cookies, the sandwiches are also top 8 allergen free!


They’re making a splash in three different options:

  • Chocolate Chip: A thick layer of coconut-based vanilla frozen dessert loaded with shaved chocolate chips sandwiched between two drool-worthy chocolate chip cookies

  • Mint Chip & Cake: Kula’s signature coconut-based mint chip frozen dessert pressed between two soft-baked chocolate brownies

  • Strawberry Short Cookie: A thick layer of all-natural strawberry frozen dessert made with real fruit, nestled between two soft-baked vanilla blondies (Kula’s special new recipe)

You can find the new treats in retail stores at over 25 locations (such as Boney’s Bayside Market, Cardiff Seaside Market, Glowing Plant-Based Eatery, and Just Peachy Market) across Southern California, with more to come by the end of summer. The sizes range from 6.15-7.5oz.


New Epic Flavor from Plan(e)t Ice Cream! Greece

This innovative soft-serve frozen dessert (described by the brand as a plant-based yogurt) is unlike any "Greek white cheese" or "plant-based yogurt substitute" you have ever tried! Greek Yogurt No Sugar with bio-agave nectar and nuts is fully natural and lacking added sugars. As an added bonus, it comes with an edible, waste-free spoon!

The 100 percent plant-based product is currently only available in the Plan(e)t Ice Cream flagship store in central Athens.
