One of these suppliers is WONDER NATURAL FOODS, a New-York based Company that produces healthier, lower fat and lower calorie Peanut Butter Spreads in several flavours. Upon beginning life as an INNODELICE ecosystem supplier, they have expressed interest in partnering with manufacturers who are interested in a natural and “healthier for you” peanut butter spread that won’t substantially add fat or calories to their ice-cream or frozen dessert range. And the product is also great tasting!
Aside from the health benefits, their product as an ingredient is easier to work with. Traditional peanut butter, due to its high fat and oil content, has its challenges when mixing with dairy products. Their product, which is water-based, allows for full emulsification whereas oil separates resulting in a better final product. This could look like a peanut butter swirl or sauce to accompany your ice cream base; but innovation and creativity is encouraged so open discussions surrounding new product combinations are welcome.
Their retail brand is called Better ‘n Peanut Butter® and focuses on targeting weight and health conscious consumers who are looking for a healthier option when searching for peanut butter brands to purchase. They aim to do for peanut butter what Halo Top did for ice cream and offer the market a lower calorie, healthier alternative. Their products can be found in specialty food stores and food chains like ShopRite and Ingles in the US as well as online retail channels such as Amazon and Walmart which caters perfectly to their B2C audience. In addition, they also create formats for the B2B market and their industrial consumers.
Better ‘n Peanut Butter® is a patented formula made from real peanuts and is pasteurised for safety reasons. Currently, the flavours available are Original, Low Sodium, Chocolate and Banana. Their peanut spreads boast a mere 100 calories per serving and 85% less fat than traditional peanut butter, making them a 33% more efficient source of protein than most mass peanut butter brands. Additionally, they do not contain any palm oil and are gluten and dairy free.
The product does not require refrigeration before opening making it perfectly shelf-stable for ease of shipping and storage along the supply chain and on-shelf in retail.
The product was invented about 20 years ago however Wickapogue Management LLC acquired Wonder Natural Foods Corp in 2018 and has since been focusing strongly on refreshed branding, new product development and innovation strategies with a goal to increase distribution across North America and beyond.
